2014 "Millésime" Champagne

Marne Valley, Champagne, France

  • Producer

    Antoine Bouvet

  • What we love

A mineral-driven Champagne crafted from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, hailing from France’s most famous sparkling wine region. 40+ year old vines give way to impressive apple-y richness, with crisp acidity and distinct minerality. Aged for six years before disgorgement adds complexity, creating a wine displaying flavors of yellow stone fruit, honey, almond, and abundant brioche notes, thanks to extensive contact with the lees. A beautiful Champagne and drinking so well now.

About this Wine

Antoine Bouvet checks all the boxes for those seeking artisanal-scale Champagne: limited production, long lees aging, low dosage, loads of depth, terrific value. Only 70 cases made.

This is complex Champagne meant for the dinner table more so than the cocktail hour, though we certainly wouldn’t turn it away if someone offered it to us as an aperitif! Then again, there’s really no occasion, or meal, that’s not improved by good Champagne. Cheers!

  • Technical Data:
  • Blend: 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay
  • Alcohol: 12.0%
  • Farming: Complete organic farming, with some vineyards employing biodynamic methods

Antoine Bouvet

Owner + Winemaker

Antoine Bouvet is a young winemaker who is already producing excellent Champagnes. After studying at the Lycée Viticole in Avize, Antoine began working for his grandparents’ estate before launching his own label in 2013.

For his entire portfolio, vinification takes place in oak barrels with the use of indigenous yeast and the wines undergo malolactic fermentation. There is no fining or filtering and each cuvée is allowed a period in contact with the fine lees. Farming practices adhere to strict organic and biodynamic methods, and annual production is around 6,000 bottles.
