2014 Pinot Noir
Duvarita Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, CA
What we love
The 2014 Duvarita Vineyard Pinot Noir is another gorgeous wine from Gavin Chanin. Red cherry, savory spice, and dried herbs, all supported by veins of tannin, are some of the nuances that give the Duvarita its chiseled, saline-driven personality. This medium-bodied, silky Pinot Noir has no hard edges, impeccable balance and a great finish. Exceedingly delicious! Pair with light proteins, grilled vegetables and savory dishes.
About this Wine
This Pinot comes from a cool site located just outside of Lompoc, on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills. Cool coastal winds, diverse marine-based soils, and a long growing season provide a unique environment for Pinot, and Santa Barbara’s sandy soils benefit its vineyards by retaining heat as well as provide good draining. These aspects are crucial to producing elegant Pinots that are highly aromatic, lighter in color and lower in tannins.
Antonio Galloni called Chanin’s Duvarita Pinot “a total knockout” and we couldn’t agree more. Cheers!
