2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
Elevación Vineyard, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, CA
What we love
Sitting high atop Howell Mountain, Elevación Vineyard is owned and farmed by the vineyard manager for Oakville’s Opus One, Juan Martinez. Needless to say, Juan grows ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 Cabernet shows earthy black notes of blackcurrant and dark fruit, with forest floor and orange peel undertones. Focused, muscular, and bold, with gritty, integrated tannins.
About this Wine
A new and sensational wine by a father and son team, the 2014 Saladin Howell Mountain Cabernet is big and rich, and shows the quality of the vintage and the unique Howell Mountain terroir.
High elevation (about 1,800 feet), warm summer nights and rocky soils produce small intense red berry fruit creating a Cabernet Sauvignon that is magnificently complex and elegantly robust, and such a good value, especially considering its from Howell Mountain. Enjoy!
