About this Wine

If you follow some of California’s preeminent Chardonnay producers like Paul Hobbs and Mark Aubert, chances are you’ve seen the name Ulises Valdez, or UV, on some of their top bottlings. Ulises Valdez is one of California’s most sought-after wine growers and when he’s not farming vineyards for Aubert, Kistler, Paul Hobbs and others, he’s cultivating his dream of building a successful brand. To help with the winemaking aspects, it is Ulises' friend and client, Mark Aubert, who made this Chardonnay. This is your chance to drink an Aubert Chardonnay for under $90 a bottle!

  • Winemaking: Fermented with wild native yeast and barrel aged on the lees for 15 months in French oak (20% new) before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Ulises will say his biggest winemaking achievement came in 2010, when his Silver Eagle Chardonnay was served at the White House for President Obama’s state dinner honoring the former President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón.

“Just the idea to have one of the bottles of Valdez – this guy who jumped the border in ’85 – on the same table where my hero ate so many times – President Ronald Reagan, who made me legal – that was huge.”
