Boer Vineyard, Chalone, Monterey County, 2016
What we love
Betwixt is the project of Tim Telli, who makes his wines in San Francisco. The 2016 Boer Vineyard Grenache was fermented with 20% whole clusters and aged for 17 months in neutral French oak. Light rosewater, strawberry and cherry-juice aromas meet with star anise and baking spice on the nose, framing flavors of red fruit, orange rind and, on the finish, vanilla paste. Medium bodied, fruity, light tannin, and intriguing complexity.
About this Wine
We love the purity of the Grenache flavors from this vineyard. The terroir of limestone and decomposed granite combined with an arid climate stresses the vines which produce a beautiful expression of Grenache with delicious flavor intensity and interesting complexity. This juicy red wine gets even better the longer it’s open, so consider decanting to allow its full character to appear. Enjoy!

Owner + Winemaker
Tim Telli is a talented “urban winemaker” sourcing premium grapes from around California and turning them into wine in San Francisco’s Mission District, where he also lives with his family.
His Betwixt label is a recent, and very exciting, discovery for us.
An Englishman now devoted to Northern California wine, Tim Telli’s Betwixt label is dedicated to low intervention winemaking that underlines time and place. Tim believes in minimal intervention in the wine making process; his wines go through native fermentation, aren't racked till right before bottling, and are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
