What we love
This wine is a harmonious blend of Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon that boasts so much depth and fragrance. Interesting notes of dried violets, black olives and cedar combine with fresh blackberries and cherries. Given the freshness of the fruit flavors and its overall juiciness, this wine is an easy sipper and a great accompaniment to a wide range of foods, from beef to pork and even your favorite pizza.
About this Wine
The 2016 Merisi Red Blend is one of the best insider wines, crafted by a tiny “mom & pop” Sonoma winery with terrific winemaking talent.
The Petite Sirah was sourced from two vineyards, Ceja Family in Sonoma Valley and Diener Ranch in Lake County, where the Petite Sirah vines are 80 years old. Merisi complimented the Petite Sirah with Cabernet Sauvignon, adding about 6% to the final blend to give the wine extra oomph and complexity.
All the fruit for this blend was grown organically and sustainably. Grapes were harvested by hand and fermented naturally to compliment the conscientious farming practices. It was then aged in barrels (30% new oak) for 20 months.

Merisi Wines was started by Mandy and Nick Donovan to share their love for Northern California wines, and to show their vision of the best of what this region can produce. As the winemaker, Mandy thoughtfully sources fruit from boutique, sustainably-farmed vineyards, cared for by the same families for generations.
Though driving to an industrial warehouse complex in Sonoma's south side wine ghetto, where Mandy crafts her wine, might seem mismatched to a winemaking style that strives to best understand and represent the vineyards and growers whose fruit are sourced, it quickly becomes apparent from Mandy's recounting of how each wine came to be that she is serious about delivering on her ideals.
