2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley, CA
Rafael et Fils
What we love
Napa is a warm, sunny place, and I love wines that embrace the region’s natural generosity without sacrificing structure. One such wine, a relatively new discovery for me, was the 2017 Rafael et Fils Cabernet, from an estate vineyard in the western end of the Oak Knoll District, inching up against Mount Veeder. The 2017 Rafael et Fils Cabernet is velvety and supple, unctuous with boysenberry and blueberry, grounded by firm acidity and suggestions of paprika and cigar box. Ripe but balanced, and wonderfully delicious!
About this Wine
This is pure, unadulterated Cabernet Sauvignon that should charm even the most skeptical wine enthusiasts. Aged for about 23 months in French barrel and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this wine has nuance and complexity that beguile its approachability. A beautiful wine that drinks as well today as it will age. Enjoy!
