2018 White Field Blend
Yountville AVA, Napa Valley, CA
What we love
Organic grapes harvested from the cooler, riverside area of Yountville gives the 2018 DeSante “L’Atelier” vivacious aromas of citrus, flint and nectarine. The palate is deftly balanced with notes of peach, fresh cut apple and bruleéd red grapefruit, leading to a delicious saline finish. Part savory, part fruity and all crowd-pleaser, this is a special wine that is too good to resist.
About this Wine
A few years ago, David and Katharine DeSante, who are probably the most giving, thoughtful winemakers in the industry, came across a small Napa vineyard planted with white wine grapes that nobody wanted. The plot was due to be uprooted and replanted with Cabernet, Napa’s main variety, but the DeSantes saved the vineyard. In doing so they created “L’Atelier,” their flagship wine – a field blend of four different grapes, and something very rare: a delightfully aromatic, bright white from the middle of Cabernet country. This wine impresses from start to finish. Cheers!
