2018 Gamay Noir

Krater Cellars does beautiful work with lighter bodied red wines, and their Gamay — from one of the few California vineyards that grows the grape — is a perfect expression of their style. It tastes like dusty red cherry, violets, orange peel and clove. Though you might be tempted to, don’t rush to empty the bottle: It tasted even better the day after I’d opened it.
