2018 Pinot Noir
Van der Kamp Vineyard, Sonoma Mountain, CA
What we love
We are thrilled to get our hands on this gem. Samantha Sheehan’s POE label is on fire, and her old-vine Pinot is normally reserved for her mailing list only. The wine offers up excellent aromatic complexity in its youthful blend of black cherries, pomegranate, a hint of blood orange and some sweet tones of cola. On the palate the wine is deep and full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, focused finish. A rustic interpretation of Pinot that can be enjoyed with food or without. Cheers!
About this Wine
Samantha Sheehan’s POE wines pay homage to great vineyard sites. This Pinot Noir gets its brightness and elegance from the Van der Kamp vineyard, a magical spot atop Sonoma Mountain at 1,400 feet elevation. It is possibly the oldest planting of Pinot Noir still producing, planted in 1953, making these seriously old Pinot Noir vines by California standards.
