2018 "The Initiation" Syrah
Soberanes Vineyard, Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County, CA
What we love
Cattleya’s “The Initiation” is Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah at is finest. A classic cool climate Syrah, “The Initiation” offers a gorgeous perfume of blueberries, violets, licorice, and bacon that develops and opens up beautifully with air. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, seamless texture, incredible elegance and purity, and a great finish. It is simply lovely stuff.
About this Wine
The Soberanes Vineyard is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey County amid the sandy loam soils boasting significant sub-soil boulders layered into the alluvial fan. Meticulously farmed by the Pisoni & Franscioni families, the vines thrive in this cool site among foggy mornings and Pacific winds. You can expect hints of minerality, beautiful acidity while the tannins wrap the mouth-feel with a unique velvet texture. Cheers!
