2013 Pinot Noir
Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills, CA
What we love
From the oldest vines from the famed Sanford & Benedict vineyard, planted in 1972, the 2013 Pinot Noir exhibits outstanding notes of forest floor, darker berry (cherries, black raspberries), and plenty of floral characteristics to go with a medium-bodied style. The palate is fleshy, with structured tannins and dense, dark fruit on the finish. It was fermented with 40% whole cluster, which gave the wine spice and aromatic lift. It's certainly outstanding.
About this Wine
Dark ruby in color, the 2013 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir is as complex as it is a joy to drink and share. Whenever I have access to a stash of Chanin, we take all we can—these are wines that must grace the table of anyone who has a soft spot for elite Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They are consistently among my favorite California releases.
