2013 "Sanford & Benedict" Pinot Noir
Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, CA
What we love
In 1970, people told Richard Sanford that he was crazy to plant pinot noir in Santa Barbara. Fortunately, he ignored the skeptics, and his ‘Sanford & Benedict Vineyard’ would go on to produce some of the country’s best pinots, like this organic version from Chanin Wine. It smells like a face-full of flowers, fallen leaves, and baking spices, and its bold fruit flavors are balanced by refreshing acidity. Tastes like: Red cherry, strawberry, cinnamon, and mushroom.
