2016 Pinot Noir Rosé
Fiddlestix Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills, CA
What we love
"Pink Fiddle's" unique aromas and flavors make this wine memorable. This beautifully colored rosé showcases a delicate bouquet of fresh strawberries and Bing cherries, infused with dried cranberries and even a little bit of pink bubble gum. But don’t let that last note throw you off, this wine has tiny amounts of sugar! This is a serious rosé that uniquely straddles the line between cheerful brightness and mouth-filling smoothness.
About this Wine
Almost every wine region in the world is now making the pink liquid, and much of it is worth your attention. One such locale is the Sta. Rita Hills, where the rosés made from Pinot Noir are some of the most delicious and refreshing you're going to find.
This rosé will pair well with just about anything. Vietnamese dishes like pho, pork banh mi, tamarind chicken, etc, would be my pick, but even a simple spread of goat cheese and crackers would work perfectly. Just 105 cases made. Cheers!

You have to wonder where Fiddlehead Cellar’s Kathy Joseph gets her energy. When she’s not judging wine competitions, teaching classes at Napa Valley College and UC Davis, and serving on several boards, she can be found on her ATV making rounds at her vineyard, called Fiddlestix. She’s even taken Spanish classes to better communicate with her vineyard crew.
Kathy doesn’t shy away from a challenge, either. When she bought her vineyard in the mid-90s, her mission was to make something different. “I found that in California and domestically, we made very little elegantly styled Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc in the model of France.” So that’s what she did, and that’s what she’s doing now, and she’s become one of the most notable California winemakers.
And just to round things out, Kathy hosts one of the best-loved Pinot events of the year on her vineyard, complete with a charming refurbished barn, plenty of delicious food, delicious wines, and a Bluegrass band. It’s called Fiddlefest if you want to check it out, and it’s open to the public.
