    The winemakers’ decision to ferment the grapes in stainless steel tanks followed by 16 months of sur-lie aging in neutral oak helped tame Cabernet Franc’s savory side, bringing forth the wine's natural fruit profile. California sunshine comes through with notes of ripe blackberries and tangy pomegranate, with some savory tones in the form of dried herbs and fragrant sandalwood. Gail’s Cabernet Franc is an easy drinking charmer of a wine.

About this Wine

It took the winemakers at Gail a long time to find a site that would help them capture Cabernet Franc’s complexity. Hollister Hill is located in a transitional micro-climate about 600’ up the East facing slopes of Sonoma Mountain. This windswept vineyard experiences a robust diurnal shift that swings 50 degrees during the growing season. Soils are volcanic but the vines are still young (planted in 2017), so the varietal dominates this wine's personality.

Dan O'Brien has worked throughout the wine industry, first starting in high-end restaurants in the east coast, eventually moving to San Francisco to start the Grand Award winning wine program at Cavallo Point. From there he started the Cultivar wine label, was the estate director for Long Meadow Ranch & Larkmead Vineyards, started the Hunt & Harvest wine label, and now is dedicating all of his time and efforts into Gail.
