About this Wine

Spectacular wines are borne of spectacular terrain and terroir. Kenefick Ranch sits on some of the most remarkable land in the Napa Valley – a contiguous 125-acre piece of land in the Calistoga AVA “removed bench” that’s unique in its varied soil profiles and microclimates. Within this single property are small elevation changes, bookended by two canyons creating alluvial fans on each side, and well-drained volcanic soils in the middle of the estate. The result is fruit of extremely high quality. The best grapes are then made into wines bottled under the Kenefick Ranch label.

Winemaking: Barrel fermented with native yeasts and aged sur lees for 6 months in 90% neutral French oak; 10% new.

Kenefick Ranch

When it comes to vineyards, a great location comes with great responsibility. Indeed, Kenefick Ranch sits upon a stellar location in the Calistoga AVA in the northernmost appellation of Napa Valley, where alluvial fans and volcanic bedrock lend a unique minerality to the vineyard’s soil, and ultimately its wines.

The responsibility is knowing what to do with such a geographical gift to make the stunning wines coming out of Kenefick Ranch. Owner Tom Kenefick exhaustively obsessed and tweaked his vineyard to produce the highest possible quality fruit it could bear, but that’s only half the battle of the great burden of responsibility.

The other half, turning the fruit into bottled wine, is the duty of expert winemaker Kent Jarman, who makes the most of Kenefick’s fruit by interfering as little as possible during the winemaking process. As a result, you get wines produced from incredibly high quality grapes that let their terroir speak for itself.
