The Coquelicot Vineyard is certified organically farmed just outside of Solvang in Santa Ynez Valley. This site was planted in the mid 1990s on gravely riverbed soils. Winemaker Gina Giugni soaked the grapes on their skins for 24 hours before being whole cluster pressed to create a unique Sauvignon Blanc. The juice is fermented in neutral French oak barrels with native yeast and aged on lees for 8 months for texture. Think margarita tones – sea salt, lemon & lime, green pineapple wedge.
About this Wine
Gina Giugni grew up in a winemaking family in the Sierra Foothills and in 2017 has established her own one-woman domaine: Lady of the Sunshine. Using Biodynamic vineyard practices, she farms Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc in the Central Coast region and makes wines with both up-front charm and deceptive depth. Cheers!
