2017 “Megas Oenos” Red Blend
Argolida Valley, Peloponnesos, Greece
What we love
Fermented and macerated in stainless steel vats. Full malolactic fermentation in oak and maturation in new French barriques for 18 months and in bottle a further 6 months. Ripe red fruits, blackberries, morello cherries, cloves, sweet spices, and tobacco notes. The palate is silky but robust with gentle tannins and balanced acidity. Smart, elegant, complex.
About this Wine
The story of Domaine Skouras started in 1986, with an emblematic wine, Megas Oenos, which became synonymous with George Skouras (Greece’s Robert Mondavi). Back then, Megas Oenos was a pioneering blend of Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Megas Oenos is one of the wines with a consistent presence in the world of European wine, with a proven ageing ability, rivalled only by very few Greek wines.
